The alphabet English uses (American is derived from the British English language) is the Roman alphabet. This alphabet is indeed the most widely used language in the world and developed in Europe based on the Greek alphabet more than 2000 years ago.
The difference in literacy rate is possibly more due to the difference between education system in the 2 countries. As everyone knows the education system in the States is not fair to all of its citizens. The literacy rate in North West Europe is 99%, although they use the Roman alphabet.

What Korea needs is a sense a realism. You're not the top country in the world, you're not the smartest people in the world. We Flemish (Belgium), although we don't live for our education just as Finland, and still we rank at the top, next to Korea, in the PISA results.

A Belgian exchange student in SeoulAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7523574013182054677.post-79166087705516614842010-01-11T21:58:16.767-08:002010-01-11T21:58:16.767-08:00Funny post. There's this one company, Clover, that makes them.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7523574013182054677.post-80417906470410219062009-12-23T20:55:38.778-08:002009-12-23T20:55:38.778-08:00Hangeul is so easy that it doesn't suit Korean...Hangeul is so easy that it doesn't suit Koreans who r rlly smart.

But Koreans were smart enough to develop it.

Its now used by Indonesians & dark skinned ppl.dokebihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02772061504112738758noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7523574013182054677.post-86365124402158407762009-12-23T07:13:13.707-08:002009-12-23T07:13:13.707-08:00Han Gul is so easy even a woman can read it.Han Gul is so easy even a woman can read it.Brianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07149708954524602455noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7523574013182054677.post-58383738006495772122009-12-23T01:05:11.202-08:002009-12-23T01:05:11.202-08:00According to the number of red neon crosses in big...According to the number of red neon crosses in big Korean cities, you must be right.
In any case, Happy Koreatmas!José Maríahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08320975330003706513noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7523574013182054677.post-83044351293165535062009-12-23T00:57:29.005-08:002009-12-23T00:57:29.005-08:00Happy Christma!
